Ascendant

The rising sign — the sign coming over the eastern horizon at your birth. The face you meet the world with, and the helm of the whole chart. It sets the houses.

Midheaven

The chart's high noon — public role, vocation, reputation; what you are seen to be building from farthest away.

1st house

The self — body, presence, appearance, beginnings. The house of the Ascendant.

2nd house

Livelihood — money, possessions, resources, and the self-worth entangled with them.

3rd house

The near world — siblings, neighbors, short journeys, daily speech, the learning you do constantly.

4th house

Root and ground — home, family, lineage, the private foundation under everything else.

5th house

Delight — creation, children, romance, play, the things made for the joy of making them.

6th house

The daily work — routine, service, craft, health, and the maintenance a life actually runs on.

7th house

The other — partnership, marriage, open rivals; whatever meets you exactly at eye level.

8th house

Shared depths — other people's resources, debts, intimacy, grief, and every exchange that requires trust.

9th house

The far world — belief, philosophy, long journeys, higher study; meaning sought at a distance.

10th house

The summit — career, authority, public standing; what your effort amounts to in the world's eyes.

11th house

The chosen many — friends, allies, audiences, communities, and hopes that need other people.

12th house

The hidden room — solitude, endings, the unconscious, spiritual surrender; work done behind the scenes or within.

Aries

Cardinal fire — the first move. Direct, igniting, unafraid of beginnings.

Taurus

Fixed earth — the steady hold. Sensual, patient, loyal to what lasts.

Gemini

Conjunction

Two planets standing together in the same degree — their meanings fuse, for better and worse.

Opposition

Two planets face to face across the wheel — a tension that wants balancing, often lived out through other people.

Square

A hard right angle between planets — friction that demands action. The aspect that builds, because it will not let you rest.

Trine

An easy flowing angle — talents and reliefs that arrive without being earned, and are easy to take for granted.

Sextile

A gentler harmony — opportunity that opens if you reach for it.

The Hellenistic technique that divides a life into chapters — the backbone of every reading's timing, and the letter's sense of where you stand.

Zodiacal Releasing

An ancient Hellenistic timing technique that unfolds the life from a single point (usually the Lot of Spirit) into chapters and sub-chapters, each ruled by a sign and its planet. It reads like a table of contents for a life.

Lot of Spirit

A calculated point weaving Sun, Moon, and Ascendant — the chart's signature for what you do on purpose: career, action, the willed life.

Spirit Chapter

A Level 1 Zodiacal Releasing period from the Lot of Spirit — an era of the life's vocation, often years or decades long, colored by its ruling sign and planet.

Levels (L1–L4)

Releasing runs at four speeds at once: L1 chapters of years to decades, L2 sub-chapters of months to a year or two, L3 of weeks, L4 of days. A reading names the L1 and L2 you stand in; the letter watches the turns.

Peak period

A sub-chapter whose sign is angular to the Lot of Fortune — the same sign, or its 4th, 7th, or 10th from Fortune. Peaks are where a chapter becomes visible: the eventful, foreground stretches of a life (Valens).

Loosing of the Bond

The moment a releasing level, on reaching the sign it started from, leaps to the opposite sign instead of continuing in order. A hinge in the story — a change of direction that tends to be felt as a before-and-after.

The other clocks — the year's ruler, the slow progressed Moon, and the weather of transits.

Profection Year

An annual technique: each birthday advances the chart one house. The year takes on that house's themes, and the sign's ruler becomes Lord of the Year.

Lord of the Year

The planet ruling your current profection year. Wherever it sits in your chart is where the year concentrates; whatever it touches by transit matters double.

Progressed Moon

In secondary progressions the Moon crawls about one sign every two and a half years — a slow tide tracking the evolution of your inner, emotional life.

Transit

Where a planet is now, measured against where things stood at your birth. Transits are the weather; the natal chart is the climate.

Retrograde (Rx)

A planet appearing to move backward from Earth's vantage — its themes turn inward, review-shaped, revisionary. In a natal chart, a planet you grow into from the inside.

The companion system — read beside the chart, never in place of it.

Human Design

A modern synthesis system that casts the chart twice — at birth and roughly 88 days before — and reads the pair as an energetic blueprint: how your energy is built to move, decide, and meet the world.

Type

The five broad energy architectures: Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, and Reflector. Type sets your strategy — the way opportunities are meant to reach you.

Generator

The builder — a sustainable motor that lights up in response. Life works when you follow what genuinely pulls you.

Manifesting Generator

The builder who leaps — responsive like a Generator, fast and multi-track, allowed to skip steps others need.

Projector

The guide — designed to see systems and people clearly rather than to run on constant output. Wisdom arrives in rest; the work lands when it is invited.

Manifestor

The initiator — the rare type built to start things uninvited. Peace comes from informing the people in the blast radius.

Reflector

The mirror — entirely open, sampling the health of the community around them; decisions ripen over a full lunar cycle.
